Baby Boomers And Their Skin Care Needs By Sara Kitch
Is your birth date between the years of 1941 and 1957? If you were, then you are part of the whopping 78 million Americans born during these years, or what is also known as the baby boom generation.
Post World War II, the world was bouncing back from conflict and depression. Soldiers were coming home, getting married, and starting families. Marriage became again a cultural and career norm for most women, and the result was an increase in the birth rate. This set of circumstances caused the largest increase in live births ever in the history of man.
In the present day, baby boomers are reaching retirement age. Having grown up relatively healthier than their parents, they are living longer. This generation worries about the rising costs of prescription medications and decreasing reliability of Social Security. Plus, they pay a lot of attention to their appearance, particularly to the age that they show. Women of this generation look for ways to stay young-looking, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and rejuvenate their skin. They will strive to control the aging process with beauty products and health treatments more so than former generations.
Baby Boomer Women Want Skin Rejuvenation
The women between the ages of 52 and 68 are the focus of many beauty retailers because of the physical changes they are going through. Health and beauty are the prime targets for the reasons mentioned above.
As for skin care, female baby boomers need wrinkle treatment, moisturizer, and sun spot removal for blemish free skin. They also would like products that contain anti oxidants, as they are an educated population and understand that free radicals in their environment could harm their bodies and speed up the aging process. Products made with natural ingredients are also appealing as this generation grew up with an environmental conscious. These women know that natural ingredients are the healthiest for their bodies. It is no wonder that natural skin care products have seen a tremendous increase in demand lately, as it is the baby boomer women who are demanding this type of product.
